Partnering With Us

We are so grateful to be going to Malawi with an organization like the International Mission Board. For those of you unfamiliar with the IMB, it is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. Every church in the convention gives money to what is called the Cooperative Program. As shown below, these monies are funneled through each state convention up to the national convention, which allocates it to different ministries. The largest benefactor of the Cooperative Program giving is the IMB. This means that people who are sent out as missionaries with the IMB are fully funded. We do not have to worry about raising our own financial support for our ministry. We are able to go without that burden and focus on our ministry in Malawi.

We are in a unique situation, serving with the IMB in conjunction with Joseph's master's degree. During our time on the field, we will have to leave Malawi and head to another country for him to take two modular classes with other students in the same program. Right now, that is scheduled for Prague, Czech Republic, in January 2016. These class requirements are through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and not the IMB. This means that all costs associated with tuition, travel, and lodging are not covered by the mission board. We will be responsible for covering these expenses out of pocket.

Because of some generous donors to SEBTS, our lodging will be taken care of during our time in Prague. With the remaining tuition and travel, we expect these costs to be around $12,000, about $7000 for tuition and $5000 for the three of us to travel to and from these classes. We thank the Lord that He has provided for us, so far, the money to cover the cost of the tuition for Joseph's class credits.

We are still seeking to raise about $5000 for our travel expenses, as each plane ticket from Africa to Europe is very expensive. We ask that you would please pray for the Lord to provide for this need. He has already been generous to us, and we trust Him to provide the rest.
